WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We need a girl who can play a 13 or 14 year old for our movie.

We’re especially interested in independent young women who have unusual passions/hobbies or interests. The character “Caroline” has grown up living in the wilds of Forest Park with her father, and her upbringing focused on survival skills instead of normalizing into modern culture. We’re hoping to find a really special young woman for the role.

Here’s a character description for Caroline:

Caroline is a tomboy who is quietly curious about life and full of moxie. She hasn’t grown up with the conventional ideas of what a “girl” are, she’s home schooled by her father and has learned from him how to survive in the forest. She has no exposure to social media and electronics!  She knows how to do things most kids don’t know how to do — like foraging for edible plants and identifying mushrooms. She’s spent a lot of time learning how to entertain herself in the natural world.  She’s strong and practical and takes pride in the way she and her father live their lives. She’s a no-nonsense kind of person who likes to get down to business and solve problems. She’s got a quirky sense of humor and likes to see if she can make her dad smile every once in awhile.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS?

There’s a number of steps involved before we can choose an actor for this project.

  1. Actors submit themselves for consideration (see below for instructions.)
  2. We review submissions and request a short video of selected actors that discusses their hobbies/interests/passions and life.
  3. Casting reviews videos and schedules actors for auditions at our offices.
  4. Our director and producers review the audition video and select actors to call back for a 2nd audition.
  5. We’ll hold a few days of 2nd auditions at our offices, performing scenes from the movie.
  6. We’ll narrow down our favorites, and hold yet another round of auditions (callbacks) at which point we should be pretty close to hiring.

Casting for this project is also being conducted in New York and LA, but the producers are really hoping to find someone from Pacific Northwest.
