GENERAL AUDITIONS SUMMER 2021
simon max hill casting
Hi there! You’ve found your way to our ‘Generals’ audition page–one step down, a few more to go!
First off, let us introduce ourselves. We are simon max hill casting and we are a company that casts movies, tv shows and commercials that make their way up to the PNW! Some of our projects include Portlandia, Shrill, Pig(starring Nicolas Cage), Lorelei, Leave No Trace and Lean on Pete.
What and why are General Auditions?
These are an open call for recorded auditions – we’re hoping to announce these a few times a year, to keep our talent pool fresh and see old faces in a new light. You’ll record yourself performing a scene, upload it to our site, and we’ll watch it and be impressed. We’ll also have you in our files, so later on when we’re searching for “amazing super cool actor person” while prepping our jobs, you’ll pop up.
An aside: an even better way to get auditions with us for specific projects is to find a talent agent in the Pacific Northwest. The Oregon Media Production Association has a list of agents here. But also submit video, because it’s a lot easier than getting an agent.
I’m interested! So how do I audition?
Time to send us your self-taped audition! We have provided some scenes below from a selection of films that we feel could provide you great range, but we are also open to you performing a scene of your own choosing. If you do pick your own scene, try to make it from a contemporary movie, performed in a naturalist style.
1. CHOOSE AN AUDITION SCENE
Download the scenes below and pick one that you want to perform for us! Each pdf will have instructions, but we’re looking for 2 or 3 takes of 1 scene (not many different scenes) so we can see a range of performance with the same content.
sides – Therese or Carol – Aug 2021
sides – Marion or Lady Bird – Aug 2021
sides – Mollie or Endicott – Aug 2021
sides – Ben – Aug 2021
sides – Ted or Lucy – Aug 2021
sides – Clementine or Mierzwiak – Aug 2021
sides – Frances or Sophie – Aug 2021
sides – Hildy or Williams
sides – Hildy or Louis – Aug 2021
sides – Lady Bird or Danny – Aug 2021
sides – Lucy or Ted – Aug 2021
2. RECORD YOUR TAKES
See the .pdf of your scene for instructions about what takes we’d like to see, and what they should include.
(A smart phone is more than adequate for this – no need to call the local film school or hire a DP!)
3. SUBMIT YOUR AUDITIONS + INFORMATION
Once you’ve got all the requested audition video ready, go to the following form to upload them (along with headshot, resume and hopefully your wardrobe+contact information.)
We will contact you if we need to see anything else or if something is wrong(i.e. – if a video file is broken on our end.) Otherwise, thank you so much for submitting!
HELP! I’M HAVING TROUBLE SUBMITTING!
Our system is great! But not perfect. So you may have trouble getting your audition uploaded. Here are common problems:
I can’t login. This is most likely a result of using the same email address for two accounts (like, say you had two kids and wanted to submit both of them.) This is a flaw in our system that needs fixing! But for now, use a different email address for each account.
I can’t tell if the audition submitted successfully.
Check your email! The system emails you when you successfully submit.
The form flashes red when I try to submit.
You haven’t filled in one of the required fields, or you aren’t uploading all required media.
The upload seems to stall out.
Either your video is still uploading and is huge OR the connection broke in the middle of the upload. You’ll need to re-upload.
I’ve tried everything above and it’s still not working.
We have a workaround! You’ll need to submit using one link and send us your media via WeTransfer. Please send media to email@example.com with the name of the account you want the media attached to.

If you can’t use the ‘without media’ form above, email your name, contact info and sizes to firstname.lastname@example.org
Please email us as email@example.com if you have questions or experience problems submitting.
